While at Walmart with Lucy one day she spied these shoes and just kept calling them sparkle shoes. We picked them up and let her hold them. Big mistake! She kept trying to take off her shoes and trying to put these on. How could we say no?

Friday night we picked up Emma and took her to the Halloween carnival at the Moss Street Center which is where she goes a few days a week after school and Lucy is there most of every week. This is at the University and I really like the facility. Because I didn't know that she wanted to go she didn't dress up for it but I finished sewing her costume on Saturday so she would be ready for school and Halloween. I am finding that with the two little ones, company and such I just don't have the spare time to do as much as I want. But I expect as they grow older it will get better and I am just loving spending every spare moment with them that I can.
These are probably the only photos I will get because Halloween in our family is crazy and hectic because it is Dave's birthday, his parents anniversary and I always fix dinner and bring it in to their house to celebrate. Plus between all the schedules with the kids they are rarely all together in a mood to pose. Not that it was easy before Halloween either!

I am dating myself terribly but yes, my oldest turns 32 today. How long ago it has been. Wasn't he the cutest little boy? I think so...but I am the mom of course.

All fun aside, Brian is a terrific son and he loves his sisters no matter how much he has always teased and picked on them.
Since this is read by my grandchildren I have decided to make the comments by permission only due to the fact that something evil was posted in my comments section. I really hated to do this but those of you who comment please feel free to do this as I love to have that aspect. Anyone new feel free also....just no spam or mean things. Byron spent the night with us last Friday night. It is always so much fun to see the differences between these little people, especially to compare the differences between boys and girls. 
He is SO MUCH all boy. His feet hit the ground running, climbing, jumping, crawling and just generally exploring. He adores being outside and unless you are ready to spend lots of time outside, don't even suggest it. Even when he is hungry, tired and has been running for hours he will still cry like no tomorrow when he has to come inside.
But at the end of the day, after a good dinner, bath and some snuggling, look at how sweet this little angel is. Course that monkey MUST be with him ON the pillow. I love this little man!
Friday Dave took the afternoon off of work to purchase the wood to finish up our deck. He only had a small area left and Wade convinced him to finish it up with the bribe that he would come out and help him Friday afternoon. He added that Dave could then make his great clam chowder which is really more than clams (as in shrimp, scallops etc.). Usually Dave and I car pool because of the gas and how far out of town we live but this day he took his truck (or the green and white barf bag as I call it) so he could leave early and pick up the wood. I get this call on my lunch hour that the battery is dead in his truck and could I please come and jump start the truck. I always carry jumper cables since I have had a dead car a time or two in the past and Dave has given me static about this occasionally. But he was grovelling at my feet this day, he was. Oh how good it feels to gloat. I don't get to do this that often because usually I am the dumb trickster pulling all kinds of stunts which he just rolls his eyes at. Come to find out he sheepishly admitted that he had left his lights on. But it even gets better. He even went to purchase his parking permit and noticed that they were on and thought to himself that he had better turn them off. But in the time it took to buy the parking permit and walk to the truck and put it on his dash, he forgot. Doesn't this sound like something I would do? I am so loving this.
Well he did get his wood. He did make his famous chowder. We did eat it. Wade didn't come help on Friday but did come to eat. Wade came on Saturday to help so the deck is finished except some trim pieces. Wade, thank you for the nudge....things seem to get done when the Wade nudge happens. I will take pictures of the deck soon.
Did I mention that Jill and Byron came along with Wade and that I picked up Lucy and Emma to spend the weekend? Well here are the three musketeers eating fruit snacks.
We have been invaded by the lady bugs again. Byron and Lucy were completely mesmerized by them and were making them crawl on their arms. Here they are trying to herd them in the direction they want them to go.
They seem to love the windows best and here is Byron catching one. He never squished them at all. He just loved to hold them and watch them walk.
Here is Lucy. Doesn't she just look so cute and innocent here watching the lady bug on her hand? Well moments later she took it between her index finger and thumb and squeezed it until it was flat and the wings came off. Kelli came to join all of us on Saturday and Sunday and she brought her new camera and took the pictures of Byron and Lucy.

Dave and I have been reading to Emma before bed time for quite some time now but just this past year have been reading from books that we must read a chapter each night. I started this with Little House on the Prairie. Emma loved that book but before we went on to the second one in the series I decided we should take a break from them and read something new. So we picked out The Secret Garden.
This book is one that I remember reading as well as seeing the movie. Both Dave and I got into it and would argue about who got to read the chapter. I have to admit that I let him win most of the time since I had already read it but not without trying to make him feel guilty. That is a wife's duty you know. However, he didn't buy the guilt thing any more than he ever has so I don't think it was too effective.
We have finished the book and now have chosen Indian in the Cupboard. I have heard great things about this book and have wanted to read it. Emma was pretty excited to read as well, especially since her dad used to have it. So now, all I have to do is think up a way to be the one to read each time. Perhaps I won't tell Dave that I have already bought the book. He'll just have to figure this one out on his own.
I found this video and it reminds me so much of all the things I found myself saying over the years to the kids and now the grandchildren. I know I heard most of these from my mom also as well as a bunch more that are not printable without being censored. Perhaps I will write about some of those on my Sisters Blog but you must listen to this....... cause I said so.
Emma has always been my little decorator. Every holiday she likes to come and put out all of my decorations and so the last two weekends she has been as busy as a little bee arranging things. Here she is with the little witch she likes. As a matter of fact wants me to sew her a witch costume this year. Dave found her a witch hat last night at Walmart so we have that out of the way now. Just need to get busy sewing.
We also made Halloween cookies on Sunday and Lucy just had to be involved with the rolling out of the dough. I should have taken a picture of her because we certainly had a huge mess of flour, dough and frosting all over her and the counter and the floor. But I had my hands full so didn't grab the camera at the time. Darn! But it was a very fun weekend anyway with my three favorite little people.
